From a Chinese Lion Dance to Italian Opera and everything in-between is what you might find Downtown Longmont on 2nd Friday, May 11, 2012.
Come Downtown and celebrate diversity. DJ Nelson will be located on the west breezeway between 3rd and 4th on Main St. and will be playing some of the best Latin Music from various countries, including Salsa, Bachata and Merengue, along with dance performances by Amanda Mayhan and friends. You can also take a walk down to the east breezeway between 4th and 5th on Main St. and enjoy a Ghanaian drum circle and dance performances by Cornelius Alfredo Duncan, Komla Hezi, Atta Addo and Tracy Jones. Or, stop by St. Stephens Plaza and listen to Italian Opera singer Melisa Donelan, singers/song writers, Ken Keusenkothen, Matilda Dorthy Jane Clementine, Tony Sawyer, and DJ Johnny B.
The Chinese Lion Dance performance will begin on the northwest corner of 5th and Main at 7 p.m. and will move throughout the Downtown District. Follow the Lion Dance to capture all the art openings and galleries that evening, including Rabid Rabits, the Great Frameup, Firehouse Arts Center and the Muse Gallery. The Chinese Lion Dance will end at the Muse Gallery where you can enjoy performances from folkloric dance group Nahucalli.
