What is CarSharing?

Carsharing is a type of car rental designed to be convenient for people who want to rent cars for short periods of times (as little as 15 minutes, usually a few hours, up to multiple days) and only pay for their usage (costs depend on duration of trip and miles driven). Carsharing allows access to a car at any hour, not just business hours. eGo CarShare has cars located throughout neighborhoods and business districts in Boulder, Denver and Longmont. These work best with a specific (permanent) parking location.

eGo CarShare provides the option to live a car-lite or car free lifestyle without owning a personal vehicle. With 24/7 access to our fleet of neighborhood-based vehicles, it gives business commuters the ability to have a vehicle available for errands or off-site meetings, as well as weekend travelers transportation to the mountains, or use a truck to haul compost to your garden. A carsharing membership covers the cost of gas, insurance and maintenance.

eGo CarShare is a nonprofit carsharing organization with a mission to provide and promote alternatives to individual car ownership, thereby reducing the environmental and social impacts associated with motor vehicle use. We have been operating in the Boulder-Denver metro area since 2001 and we currently have 53 vehicles in the fleet. You can view locations at http://carshare.org/locations/. Each car can replace up to 13 personally owned vehicles, i.e. each eGo CarShare car can free up previously used parking spaces. Members can use cars for any duration they need.
