Longmont Creative District Projects:

Rally in the Alley: "Rally in the Alley" is Longmont Creative District’s newest public art project! Artists have been busy transforming blank walls and spaces in the East alleyway of Main Street from 3rd-6th Avenues into engaging and inspiring pieces of art, accessible to all.  It also includes patterned crosswalks to make biking and pedestrian crossing easier at the improved alleyways.  Six mural artists were matched with six Creative District Property Owners.  This project was funded in collaboration with Active Places, Active People; Art in Public Places and Longmont Downtown Development Authority (LDDA).

Wayfinding Plan: In 2019, the Longmont Downtown Development Authority/Longmont Creative District, City of Longmont and Visit Longmont partnered on funding a Wayfinding Plan.  The LDDA Board has allocated significant funding to implement this plan once approved. 

Central to the success of any signage & wayfinding program is its ability to communicate a memorable, compelling, understandable, and authentic story about place. A great community wayfinding program not only highlights key attributes and destinations, it also creates an emotional bond with residents and visitors, and provides jurisdictional representatives with a solid foundation for marketing and promotion. 

Project Goals:

  • Design signage & wayfinding that is creative, showcases Longmonts sense of place and helps direct residents and visitors throughout Longmont, its destinations and amenities
  • Develop an implementation plan that outlines the costs and resources needed to implement the new signage & wayfinding designs

Artisan Manufacturing: Working with Recast Boost, the Longmont Creative District/LDDA embarked on planning and outreach to make the Longmont Creative District a home for artisan manufacturers.  See report.

Colorado MetroLab: The MetroLab Network is a national community of of more than 40 city-university partnerships focused on urban innovation, bringing university research and expertise in design, engineering and community engagement to local governments. The Community Engagement Design and Research Center (CEDaR) at CU Boulder launched Colorado MetroLab in 2015 building on the principles of the national network. Through Colorado MetroLab the provost of the University of Colorado Boulder has entered into agreements with the mayor of Longmont, to collaborate on projects in the Longmont Creative District.

Winter Walkabout Music Showcase: Longmont Creative District Groundhog's Eve showcase for a day and night of what Longmont does best - killer local music, delicious food, craft libations, and good vibes. Featuring more than 100 local musicians in more than 15 Creative District Venues on one Winter Night!

Moblie Block Party: Connecting neighborhoods to the Creative District, these monthly curated tours are held every 2nd Friday of the month.  The BrewHopTrolley picks up right in a Longmont Neighborhood and heads to the Creative District.  The curated tour features custom tours of art galleries, artist talks, craft beverage tours, historic tours and more.
