Emerge!

When May hits, summer comes into view as flowers are blooming, school is ending, vacations are planned and outdoor events are filling our calendars.

Here at the LDDA, we are gearing up for the Downtown Summer Concert series in June. We are working with property owners on construction projects and are getting ready for summer. As we continue our work for a vital and valuable Downtown Longmont, we focus on Placemaking and Urban Design – especially around Historic Preservation and establishing a sense of place that highlights the authenticity of our community.

Did you know that LDDA and the City of Longmont worked together to establish a national historic district? This district includes 83 Buildings, 69 designated as contributing to commerce and social history of our community; 17 Local Landmarks; 4 Individual National Landmarks. This district comes with funding tools that help business and property owners invest in their properties – retaining the historic character that is so important.

We have some projects under construction around town. Check out and follow I-beam Colorado to see several great projects underway at 350, 356 and 360 Main St. as well as 659 4th Avenue!

There are also new businesses emerging around Downtown Longmont. Be sure to check out Old Town Marketplace (332 Main St) that has great new businesses (for kids & adults) with everything from cards to women’s clothing to Legos and dinosaurs. 99 Bar Saloon is bringing us Old West Fun with New West Flair at 449 Main St. ISOF (In Search of Freedom) is bringing women’s clothes to the corner of 3rd & Main St. Across the street, coming soon is Roots Restaurant, featuring multicultural and cross cultural foods and event space at the former Dicken’s Tavern. Royalty Arrangements features fresh florals and gifts at 723 Main St. There are even more new things happening each week – be sure to come often and check it all out.
