Creativity & Culture

This September is all about celebrating the creativity and culture that makes our community so special. New this year, celebrate Longmont Arts Week – September 9 – 16, with events in and beyond the Longmont Creative District. This week is bookended with two community events – Artwalk on Saturday, September 9 and Rhythm at Roosevelt on Saturday, September 16, with tons of fun things throughout the week.

Arts and culture enhance every aspect of life in Longmont—improving our economy, enriching our civic life, driving tourism and building positive relationships within the community.  Our Creative District aims to be the the hub of all these activities, but we recognize the amazing creative community throughout the entire Longmont area!

The Creative Industries go much beyond traditional arts. According to the Creative Vitality Index, there are more than 1,000 jobs and more than $80 million in total industry earnings in the 80501 zip code.  In the Downtown District, several businesses transform into creative venues – acting as art galleries, performance space and other places where creativity comes to life.

September also kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15). It celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. We are proud to have a multitude of Hispanic-owned businesses in the Downtown Neighborhood, so come explore and show your support.
