Designation of National Historic District and Listing on the National Register provides formal recognition of the District’s historical, architectural, or archeological significance based on national standards.  Having a district can help build Community Pride and provide additional tools for planning, economic development and tourism while minimizing the restrictions placed on the property owners.  It also provides financial incentives to property owners of Contributing Buildings through tax credits and grant opportunities.
