April 2026 Artist Spotlight Q&A
Q: What draws you to the moments or subjects you choose to capture?
A: I’m drawn to grassroots, community driven people and businesses. At the core of my work is always the question, what story are we telling?
Through by business Digital Odyssey Media, I approach each project as a journey. Whether it is photography or video, my goal is to capture the true essence of a person or brand in a way that feels honest and real. I grew up involved in theater, and that experience still shapes how I see story today. I am always looking for character, emotion, and those subtle moments that reveal something deeper.
Q: How do you approach telling a story through your lens, what do you look for that others might miss?
A: For me, it comes down to authenticity and vulnerability. The best moments happen when people feel comfortable enough to just be themselves. I try to create an environment where that can happen naturally. Instead of forcing moments, I pay attention to what is already there and lean into it. What I’m really looking for are the honest reactions, the small shifts in expression, the in between moments that feel real. That is where the beauty of story lives.
Q: Can you describe your process on a shoot, from preparation to final edit?
A: Every project starts with a conversation. It is about making sure we are the right fit and getting clear on the story we want to tell. From there, we build the direction together. On set, I focus on creating an environment where people feel comfortable so real moments can happen. Post production is where everything really comes together. That is where we get to shape the story, experiment, and build something that feels cohesive and impactful. It is a collaborative and creative part of the process that I really enjoy.
Q: How has the Longmont community influenced the way you shoot?
A: Longmont has had a big impact on my work. I grew up in Boulder and did not spend much time in Longmont as a kid, but since moving here I have really fallen in love with this community. It’s felt new and exciting while also feeling close to home. There is a strong sense of support for local businesses and a genuine connection between people. Being a part of that has shaped the way I approach storytelling and made me more intentional about capturing work that feels personal and rooted in community.
Q: What’s a project or shot you’re especially proud of, and why does it stand out to you?
A: I am especially proud of a recent documentary project centered around a local hospitality group. It stands out because it truly captured the sense of community this group has built.
It was a very collaborative process from start to finish, and it felt like a shared journey bringing that story to life. Those are the kinds of projects that stay with me, where the final piece feels honest and meaningful.
Q: What’s the best way for a client to book time with you?
A: The best way to get started is by emailing me directly at julien@digitalodysseymedia.com and checking out my website. From there, we can talk through your vision or even help discover it together if you are still figuring things out. I look forward to connecting.
