Living Downtown

Downtown Longmont is a welcoming blend of modern living and historic charm. In the 19th century, Longmont was the brainchild of original thinkers. Today it continues to offer traditional community appeal, seasoned with a fresh and vibrant Downtown environment.

From historic home and boarding house style residential units to upper end apartments and affordable housing, Downtown has something to suit any style of living.

In 2017, the Board of the LDDA established a Residential Advisory Group to foster collaboration between the LDDA Board and Downtown Residents.

Historic East and West Side Neighborhoods

Longmont has two nationally registered downtown historic neighborhood districts: the Historic Eastside and Historic Westside. The Districts recognize their special character and interest and exemplify outstanding elements of Longmont's heritage since its founding in 1871 by the Chicago-Colorado Colony. You'll find wide streets, large lots, mature trees, and a variety of architectural character including bungalows, cottages and Victoria-style buildings. The neighborhoods have a small town feel, emphasized by their proximity to historic Main Street shops and services.

Additional community and neighborhood information for the entire Longmont area is available on the City of Longmont’website.

Keeping Downtown Clean & Safe

Downtown Longmont’s partnership with the City of Longmont Parks and Natural Resources (PNR) and the Longmont Police Department (LPD) helps ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment to all who live, work or visit downtown. Keeping downtown clean and safe provides a positive downtown experience and helps support economic development efforts.
