**Lavender Lit Fest Brings Queer Writers, Readers, and Literary Community Together for a Daylong Festival on September 19**

**[Colorado] — September 19, 2026** — Butterscotch Studios will present the inaugural **Lavender Lit Fest**, a daylong celebration of queer literature, storytelling, creativity, and community featuring free writing workshops, a book fair, Drag Story Time, and an evening reading.

Taking place on **Saturday, September 19, 2026**, Lavender Lit Fest invites readers, writers, families, and community members to gather around books and the people who create them.

Drawing inspiration from the colorful, nostalgic energy of childhood book fairs, Lavender Lit Fest reimagines the experience as a distinctly queer literary gathering—one where LGBTQ+ stories are centered, independent writers and presses are celebrated, and people of multiple generations can discover new books and one another.

Programming begins with **free writing workshops from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.**, with advance RSVP required. From **12–4 p.m.**, attendees can explore the Lavender Lit Fest book fair, featuring writers, publishers, literary organizations, and books from across the Colorado literary community.

A **Drag Story Time from 12:15–1 p.m.** will offer a playful, family-friendly celebration of reading, storytelling, and imagination.

The festival will culminate in a ticketed **evening reading from 6–8:30 p.m.**, bringing together poets and writers for a live literary performance and celebration.

Lavender Lit Fest was created to offer more than a traditional literary event. Its organizers envision the festival as a gathering place where queer writers can share their work, readers can encounter voices they may not find on every bookstore shelf, and community members can experience the joy of being surrounded by queer stories.

At a moment when access to LGBTQ+ books and stories continues to be challenged in communities across the country, Lavender Lit Fest offers a celebratory response: more books, more voices, more connection, and more opportunities to gather around the written word.
