The Woodshed with Bryan Dubrow

For players ready to dig deeper into the tradition.

Each month, Bryan Dubrow leads a focused one hour deep dive into a specific corner of the bluegrass guitar tradition. No broad strokes or beginner basics here — every session is built around a single topic, technique, or piece of repertoire, giving you the kind of concentrated attention that's hard to find anywhere else.

April — Exploring "Wildwood Flower" Together we'll explore multiple approaches to the classic Carter Family song "Wildwood Flower," drawing from guitarists including Maybelle Carter and Tony Rice.

Future sessions will take on topics like playing and analyzing Lester Flatt's "My Rose of Old Kentucky," fiddle tune variations, building a guitar break from scratch, navigating chord changes, playing bluegrass out of the D shape, and close listening sessions where we compare masters like Tony Rice and Norman Blake on Monroe's Hornpipe, or break down exactly what makes Charles Sawtelle's Nellie Kane solo so distinctive.

These classes are designed for intermediate to advanced players — folks who are comfortable holding their own at a local jam and are ready to develop new tools, sharpen their ears, and go deeper into what makes this music tick.
