The Longmont Museum was founded in 1936, and began exhibiting objects in 1940 in the carriage house of the Callahan House. In 1970, the Museum changed from a private, nonprofit organization to a department of the City of Longmont, and in November 1999, Longmont voters approved a $5 million bond issue to build a new museum and cultural center. The new facility opened to the public in 2002.
Now located at 400 Quail Road, just east of Main Street in south Longmont, the Longmont Museum & Cultural Center invites visitors to come see our regularly changing exhibits, experience our educational programs, and enjoy views from our Longs Peak Room tower.
