Downtown Art Pop-Up

New Art Venture Fills Gap in Downtown Longmont

Downtown Art Pop-Up launches its first event on Fri, May 10 during 2nd Fridays in downtown Longmont. Joanne Kirves saw a need for more opportunities for visual artists in downtown Longmont and decided to do something about it, she created Downtown Art Pop-Up.

Downtown Art Pop-Up is partnering with the Longmont Downtown Development Authority to provide art retail pop ups during select downtown events. The first event is May 10 and will be hosted by the Kitchen Company, 464 Main Street, in their basement area. The theme is May is for Moms! Show Mom that she is one-of-kind with original art! We will have sweet and savory treats as you mingle and meet our artists. Our featured artists are Rachell Mitchell – Jewelry, Joan Jordan – Paintings, Georgia Lopez – Jewelry, Pete Wysong – Ceramic Sculpture and Erin Davis – Paintings.

The Downtown Art Pop-Up works with local businesses to bring them more traffic while providing the community with more art and provide local artists with more places to display and sell their work. The artist response has been very positive, and we hope the community will come out and show their support. “Gallery spaces are hard to find and cost prohibitive, so we wanted to create a new model that will be more sustainable.” Joanne Kirves, founder of Downtown Art Pop-Up. Each Pop-Up will be in a new location with new artists.
