On a Saturday night in August of 1980, two unarmed young Latino men were shot and killed on Main Street in an encounter with the Longmont Police Department. The Latino community rallied and out of their anguish came the founding of El Comité de Longmont. Join us for a free panel discussion with the organization’s founders as they look back on the 45-year history of El Comité and the essential role it continues to play today in championing the rights of Longmont’s Latino and immigrant communities.
