Governance

The Longmont Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) is governed by and derives authority from Colorado Revised Statutes Part 8 of Article 25 of Title 31; and City of Longmont enabling Ordinance No. 0-82-76, passed by Longmont voters in 1982. It's seven member Board of Directors is appointed by Longmont City Council.

The Longmont General Improvement District #1 (LGID) is located within the LDDA Boundary. LGID was created in July of 1966 by petition as opposed to by election. The LDDA Board manages the Longmont General Improvement District #1 on behalf of the City and City Council acts as its Board.

The LDDA works with the City of Longmont to administer the Downtown Parking Fund. This includes selling long and short term parking permits within the Downtown District.

In 2014, the Longmont Creative District became certified by the State of Colorado. The LDDA, along with the Longmont Creates Board of Directors implements the goals and strategies for the District.

The LDDA’s Plan of Development captures downtown’s economic condition and identifies opportunities and constraints. The Plan sets future work plans to implement the goals, policies, strategies and action steps.
