Longmont Celebrates Día de Muertos!

Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a time to celebrate our deceased loved ones and keep their memories alive. Running since the year 2000, it’s the longest-standing Day of the Dead exhibition and celebration in Colorado and attracts more than 6,000 people annually. Community participation is an essential part of this holiday full of life, reflection, food, family, and fun.

Longmont Museum 

Date: October 14th - November 5th, 2023  

Hours: Monday - Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, Sunday 1 - 5, and Thursday evenings 5 - 9 pm 

The Día de Muertos exhibition returns to the Museum’s Swan Atrium this fall featuring ofrendas (altars) built by community members and the work of local artists.

Firehouse Art Center  

Dates: October 14th - November 5th, 2023  

Hours: Wednesday - Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm

Catrinas and Mask Auction Exhibit to benefit the Firehouse’s Outreach Education classes

The Firehouse invites local artists to create their representation of La Calavera Catrina, as well as a clay mask making art session for the general public.

Self-guided Downtown Business Altar Tours - Participating Businesses

Dates: October 14 – November 5  

As part of Longmont’s 2023 Día de los Muertos celebration, Downtown Longmont businesses will once again host ofrendas to honor the tradition of the holiday and commemorate those who have passed on. On Saturday, October 14, Downtown Longmont businesses will unveil their ofrenda displays, and maps for self-guided tours of all business altar locations will be available at downtown businesses, as well as at the Longmont Downtown Development Authority office at 320 Main St. Ofrendas will be on display through Sunday, November 5th. Day of the Dead Family Celebration 

Saturday, October 14th

Like last year, the Día de Muertos Family Celebration will open the season on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Downtown Longmont. This street festival will include music and dance performances, art and craft activities, cultural education, delicious food, downtown business altars, and the Gigantes Procession. Park downtown or at the Longmont Museum and take the free shuttle between locations so you can enjoy all the exhibitions and activities of the day.
